Douglas A. Bennett, Esq.

Doug is a partner at Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, having been in practice over 35 years. He handles workers’ compensation cases and general civil litigation including tractor-trailer and automobile litigation, products liability, and premises liability. He oversees the firm’s Pro Bono activities, and is currently representing his second death row inmate in post-conviction litigation. Doug has tried over 200 workers compensation cases and has successfully tried liability cases in Fulton, Cobb, Dekalb, Clayton, and Cherokee Counties. Mr. Bennett is a member of the American and Atlanta Bar Associations, as well as the State Bar of Georgia. A frequent speaker in various practice areas, Mr. Bennett has lectured and chaired seminars for the Atlanta Bar Association and the Institute of Continuing Legal Education. He is a past member of the Executive Committee of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the State Bar of Georgia and served as Chairman of the Section from June 2003 to June 2004.

Mr. Bennett received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Georgia in 1976. He also received his law degree from the University of Georgia, cum laude, in 1980, and served on the staff of the Georgia Law Review. In 2006, Mr. Bennett received a Bachelor of Arts from Georgia State University focusing on literature.

Mr. Bennett has mediated over 100 cases for defense clients and is now a registered neutral with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution.

Long active in youth sports, Mr. Bennett has coached over 25 youth league teams in various sports.
