Overview

Rusty Grant

Russell “Rusty” joined Miles in 2016. He was formerly a partner with Cruser Mitchell Novitz Sanchez Gaston & Zimet L.L.P., where he practiced from 2006-2022. In 2022, Rusty became a full-time Neutral. Rusty has extensive trial experience with a focus on civil litigation, including automotive/trucking, premises liability, wrongful death, and professional liability. As a mediator, Rusty has helped clients resolve disputes in these areas as well.

Rusty graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2003. He attended undergraduate school at the University of Richmond, receiving his B.A. in Journalism in 2000. Rusty is admitted to the State Bar of Georgia, Supreme Court of Georgia, Georgia Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Rusty was recognized as a Georgia Rising Star in the 2012, 2015, 2016, and 2017 editions of Super Lawyers Magazine.

Rusty is a proud father of three and enjoys spending time with his family. He is also a competitive triathlete and has participated in more than a dozen Ironman events since 2010. Rusty is an involved member of Sandy Springs Christian Church, having served as a Deacon, Elder and Vice President, and is currently serving as Congregational President for 2022-2023.

Representative Experience

  • The Supreme Court of Georgia reversed an award of attorney’s fees against Rusty’s client, finding that the trial court abused its discretion in making such an award when Rusty’s client had prevailed in the underlying case. (2005)
  • Rusty convinced the Georgia Court of Appeals to reverse a trial court’s dismissal of a third-party complaint in an automobile accident case. This was a case of first impression following Georgia’s 2005 tort reform legislation. (2010)

Arbitration Admin Fees
Arbitration Commencement And Administration Fee: $1500 per party
Atlanta Rates
2 Party Case: $325 per party; per hour
3 Party Case: $275 per party; per hour
4 Party Case: $250 per party; per hour
5+ Party Case: Flat Rate Available Upon Request

Travel time and expenses, including meals and lodging, billed separately and split equally among the parties at the Neutral's hourly rate.

ARBITRATION FEE PAYMENT POLICY

Arbitration Commencement and Administrative Fee $1500.00 per party, per arbitrator At the commencement of an arbitration each party will be invoiced a $1500.00 per party Arbitration Commencement and Administrative Fee. This fee is refundable minus $500.00 per party until the initial case management order has been issued. All arbitration related invoices are due upon receipt....

ARBITRATION CANCELLATION POLICY

If a single-day Arbitration Hearing scheduled on the merits of the case cancels or reschedules within 15 business days of the hearing, the parties will be charged 4 hours of the Arbitrator’s hourly rate for each day reserved for the hearing. However, if the single-day Arbitration Hearing cancels or reschedules within 2 business days of the hearing, the parties will be charged 8 hours of the Arbitrator’s hourly rate for each day reserved for the hearing.

If a multi-day Arbitration Hearing scheduled on the merits of the case cancels or reschedules within 28 business days of the hearing, the parties will be charged 4 hours of the Arbitrator's hourly rate for each day reserved for the hearing. However, if the multi-day Arbitration Hearing cancels or reschedules within 7 business days of the hearing, the parties will be charges 8 hours of the Arbitrator's hourly rate for each day reserved for the hearing.

Issuance of the Final Arbitration Order/Award

Arbitration Awards/Orders will not be issued to either party until Miles has received full payment for all fees and expenses associated with the arbitration.
