Dave Connor

Dave Connor is a newly Certified Florida Circuit Civil Mediator. His experience includes 40 years of diverse trial practice that included both civil and criminal cases in state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels of three states, with over 30 years in central Florida.

As a Florida lawyer, Dave’s trial work involved every kind of litigation affecting family businesses and their owners: contract disputes, trust and probate actions, eminent domain cases, non-compete and other employment-related cases, civil rights matters, personal injury and wrongful death actions, and occasionally, criminal matters. In addition to his paid work, Dave performed pro bono work for individuals and institutions in central Florida. During a sabbatical in his 50s, Dave designed and taught a legal skills course at the University of Iowa College of Law as an adjunct professor.

Dave’s extensive and varied experience will give him a unique perspective on the civil cases he will mediate. He follows a personal motto learned from decades of practice: “The only way to lose a mediation is to fail to be persistent, patient, and creative enough to obtain each side’s absolutely best offer.”

  • Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Service Award, Tenth Judicial Circuit, 2014 – When the local Care Center was sued in 2011 to set aside a large charitable gift from an estate trust, Dave defended the gift pro bono publico through lengthy litigation against a national law firm. Due to the very favorable settlement for the Care Center, he was presented this award for in Tallahassee.

  • FDACS v. Polk, 568 So.2d 35 (Fla. 1990) – client successfully challenged the State of Florida’s fraudulent “citrus canker eradication program” that burned his family’s nursery to the ground.   • State v. Tampa Rates
2 Party Case: $200 per party; per hour
3 Party Case: $175 per party; per hour
4 Party Case: $150 per party; per hour
5+ Party Case: Flat Rate Available Upon Request

Travel time and expenses, including meals and lodging, billed separately and split equally among the parties at the Neutral's hourly rate.
Pre/Post Consultation & Document Review: Hourly Mediation/Arbitration Rate

Mediation Admin Fees
Tampa Mediation Admin Fee - $200 per party

MEDIATION CANCELLATION POLICY

Mediations cancelled within 10 days of the mediation will be charged a cancellation fee of $500. However, mediations cancelled, rescheduled or settled within 24 hours of the mediation will be charged 4 hrs. of the Neutral's hourly rate . Cancellation fees shall be sent to the cancelling party unless otherwise agreed to by the parties.
