Ketan Soni
Ketan Soni is a mediator, arbitrator, and the co-founding partner of Soni Brendle, PLLC, a Charlotte-based law firm focused on divorce and business litigation. Ketan and his partner, Andrew, tag-team on complex and high-value cases when both mathematical analysis and litigation are crucial elements of a case. Ketan frequently mediates and arbitrates for other attorneys who understand the potential lack of control and predictability in the court system. Ketan develops spreadsheets, charts, and other tools that he circulates freely to other attorneys and the general public to enhance the practice of law for others.
Among other accolades, Ketan is 2022-2023 chair of the North Carolina Bar Association Family Law Section, an NC Business Legal Elite category winner in 2022 for Family Law, a top 25 Superlawyer in Charlotte, a top 100 Superlawyer in North Carolina, and an NC Dispute Resolution Commissioner.
Ketan was born in North Carolina but raised in the bitter cold and wind of the Chicago suburbs with the only comfort coming from the joy of being a Cubs fan. After giving the Midwest a final chance by attending the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, he fled back to the warm embrace of the Carolinas to attend law school at Wake Forest University School of Law.
After nearly 20 years of working for others, Ketan opened Soni Brendle, PLLC, which let him tap into the need to develop every imaginable and unimaginable spreadsheet possible, including one for counting the number of spreadsheets that one has created in the past. Since 2000, Ketan has represented clients in divorce, equitable distribution, alimony, child custody, child support, domestic violence, and appeals in Charlotte, Raleigh, and the surrounding areas. Ketan practices divorce law to achieve the best possible result with a “big picture” view of each case.
Ketan is also a North Carolina DRC Certified Family Financial and Superior Court Mediator; in 2011, Ketan saw the damage the court process inflicted on spouses and parents, and so he opened a mediation practice designed to help spouses create their own resolution without having to go to court. Ketan now teaches a 40-hour mediation training course approved by the Dispute Resolution Commission of North Carolina.
Ketan has taught free seminars on divorce for the public and appeared on Charlotte local news programs over the years. He is married with two children and lives in Charlotte. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, tinkering with the newest technologies, and finding time to travel in order to experience other cultures.
