Overview

Kristen A. Zedella is a mediator who has been a maritime lawyer for three decades. She has primarily devoted her practice to maritime legal matters, representing plaintiffs and defendants, with particular emphasis on complex and serious personal injury cases.

Kristen is admitted to practice before federal and state courts in the state of Florida. She attended Oxford College of Emory University and Emory University on full scholarship, graduating in 1991 (A.A.) and in 1993 (B.A., political science), respectively. She received her Juris Doctor from Florida State University in 1996 and was admitted to The Florida Bar in October 1996.

While attending law school, Kristen was a law clerk for a prominent Tallahassee personal injury firm, assisting in the representation of clients injured in serious automobile, tractor-trailer, medical malpractice, and premises liability cases.

Kristen is a native of Jacksonville and has strong ties to the local community. Upon returning home to Jacksonville, she began her legal practice in the maritime field with Dwayne Clark, Esq.

She is an avid gardener and dog enthusiast. She enjoys spending time on the trails and at the beach with her dogs, boating, fishing, reading, the arts, and antiques.

Representative Matters

Representing defendants and plaintiffs in cases involving injuries to those hurt on or around the navigable waters. These include merchant seamen working on ships, tugs and barges, and longshoremen hurt on ships and on the docks and have involved every manner of vessel including cruise ships, merchant ships, government ships, dredges, tugboats, ferries, and small craft.
Assisted in representation of personal injury clients in automobile, trucking, medical malpractice and premises liability cases during law school clerkship.

Community Involvement

The Hope Chest, Board Member, 2012-2022 (a non-profit through Southeast Veterinary Oncology (SEVO), providing charitable assistance to treat animals with cancer)

Jacksonville Rates
2 Party Case: $200 per party; per hour
3 Party Case: $175 per party; per hour
4 Party Case: $150 per party; per hour
5+ Party Case: Flat Rate Available Upon Request

Travel time and expenses, including meals and lodging, billed separately and split equally among the parties at the Neutral's hourly rate.

Mediation Admin Fees
Jacksonville Mediation Admin Fee - $200 per party

MEDIATION CANCELLATION POLICY

Mediations cancelled within 10 days of the mediation will be charged a cancellation fee of $1000. However, mediations cancelled, rescheduled or settled within 24 hours of the mediation will be charged 4 hrs. of the Neutral's hourly rate . Cancellation fees shall be sent to the cancelling party unless otherwise agreed to by the parties.
