Melvin Kennedy

Melvin D. Kennedy is a highly experienced mediator and attorney with a diverse legal background. He has practiced law in Missouri and Illinois since 1993, focusing on:

  • Bankruptcy and creditors’ rights
  • Criminal defense
  • Employment discrimination

For 14 years, Mr. Kennedy served as a Senior Trial Attorney for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), representing both employers and employees in employment discrimination cases. He is certified to mediate cases for:

  • U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri
  • U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois
  • Circuit Courts for the Twenty-First and Twenty-Second Judicial Circuits in Missouri

In addition to mediating employment discrimination cases for the EEOC, Mr. Kennedy provides mediation and arbitration services in the following areas:

  • Police/citizen disputes and neighbor/neighbor disputes
  • Community discussions under the Ferguson Consent Decree, following the 2014 shooting of Michael Brown

Mr. Kennedy also teaches mediation courses at Washington University School of Law and Saint Louis University School of Law, sharing his expertise with future legal professionals.
