Robert Wallace, Jr.

Robert E. Wallace Jr. is a distinguished attorney and mediator with over 40 years of experience in the St. Louis business community and the national sports industry. As the Chairman of Thompson Coburn’s Sports Law Group, Bob advises:

  • Sports teams and prospective team buyers
  • Companies involved in sports marketing
  • Civic and government entities on team relocation and facility issues

Bob also represents players, coaches, and executives in contract negotiations and separation agreements. Additionally, he has served as an NFL-approved hearing officer for drug and conduct policy violations.

During his 30-year career in professional football, Bob held prominent roles, including Executive Vice President and General Counsel for the St. Louis Rams. He managed the team’s $200 million budget, led business operations during two Super Bowl appearances, and served as lead negotiator in renaming the Rams’ stadium to the Edward Jones Dome. Bob’s leadership made him one of the highest-ranking African-American executives in the NFL.

His legal expertise is complemented by his executive experience with the Philadelphia Eagles and the St. Louis Football Cardinals.

Bob has also contributed to academia as an adjunct professor of sports law at Washington University School of Law and Saint Louis University School of Law, and as an author of articles and columns on sports law topics.
