Steven Smith

For over twenty-six years, Steven Smith was a trial lawyer dedicated to the construction industry. His practice focused on construction law and federal, state, and local government contract law. He counseled clients on both the prevention and litigation of construction law and government contract disputes. Steven represented construction and service contractors, owners, subcontractors, and suppliers on federal, state, and local projects, as well as private contractors on issues including bidding, bid protests, differing site conditions, changes, loss of productivity, delays, and terminations. Throughout his career, Steven represented client interests in hundreds of trials, arbitrations, and mediations from Maine to Florida. He has lectured and written extensively on construction law topics.

Most recently, Steven served as the Chief Operating Officer of a national retail developer. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing all aspects of a national commercial real estate development firm, including land acquisition, site development, leasing and property management, and litigation.

Steven began his legal career in the United States Army JAG Corps. As a Brigade Trial Counsel, he advised commanders, taught new soldiers about the UCMJ, and prosecuted individuals who committed crimes. He also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney, prosecuting civilians who committed crimes on post.

Outside of his professional life, Steven enjoys a variety of fitness activities, including tennis, pickleball, weightlifting, swimming, kayaking, scuba diving, and walking. He and his wife enjoy international travel to destinations yet to be discovered. Steven also volunteers with The Greatest Commandment, where he serves the homeless and underprivileged members of the Orlando community.
