Wiley George
Wiley George has been a full-time mediator since 2023. He mediates the types of commercial cases that he handled as a trial lawyer, including antitrust, bankruptcy and restructuring, breach of contract, commercial torts, construction, covenants not to compete, franchise and distribution matters, fraud, insurance coverage, intellectual property, legal malpractice, mergers and acquisitions, oil and gas/energy, public law, and securities.
Wiley grew up in Durant, Oklahoma, a small town located 90 miles north of Dallas. After earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Economics from Baylor University, he graduated from Baylor Law School. He began his legal career at Strasburger & Price in Dallas, a prominent trial firm in the Southwest. In 1993, after seven years in Dallas, he co-founded Strasburger’s Houston office with another partner. In 2003, he transitioned to Andrews Kurth, where he practiced for over 15 years. At both firms, Wiley was actively involved in leadership and management, having been elected multiple times to each firm’s management committee. He concluded his years as a trial lawyer at McKool Smith, a nationally recognized litigation boutique.
With an active trial practice spanning more than 35 years, Wiley represented and tried cases for both plaintiffs and defendants. He handled commercial litigation cases and gained experience in personal injury cases, primarily through his early work with toxic tort cases and later through insurance coverage practice and advising corporate clients on general litigation issues. Throughout his career, Wiley has been recognized multiple times as a Best Lawyer in America and a Texas Super Lawyer.
After taking time off following the COVID-19 pandemic, Wiley realized he missed the litigation environment, the camaraderie of trial lawyers, and the analytical aspects of assessing claims, defenses, and arguments. He decided to channel his expertise into a new venture and opened Wiley George Mediation PLLC to continue his involvement in the legal field as a mediator and an arbitrator.
