ATLANTA, GA, January 22, 2024 — Miles Mediation & Arbitration is proud to announce that both Tom DeBari and Tanya Tate have been promoted to “senior neutral,” the highest rank at the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) firm.

Tom Debari started his legal career at Trapp, Chastain & Uiterwyk in Tampa, practicing personal injury and coauthoring seminar materials for the National Business Institute. He then shifted to workers’ compensation defense at the Lakeland law firm formerly led by Dennis Ross, representing entities such as the State of Florida Division of Risk Management and the city of Lakeland. As a partner at Wendel, Chritton, Parks, DeBari & Peddy, Chartered, Tom served as Florida workers’ compensation counsel to major sports associations and became a commentator on sports law. In 2003, he joined Harbsmeier, DeZayas, Appel, Harden & DeBari, P.A., successfully trying cases and leading litigation that resulted in a global recall of defective construction equipment. Tom became a certified Florida mediator in 2004 and has mediated and arbitrated cases as well as representing clients as an attorney since then. In 2008, he became president of Kimsey & DeBari, P.A., focusing on representing clients in personal injury and ERISA matters and mediating business litigation cases, insurance claims, and general civil litigation cases.
Tanya Tate, a member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, is a seasoned mediator with a focus on employment law and business-related disputes, having mediated hundreds of cases in her 13-year career. Before transitioning to mediation and arbitration, Tanya worked as a litigator representing both plaintiffs and defendants in various cases, including employment law, restrictive covenants, trade secrets, contracts, torts, business litigation, insurance coverage, school law, premises liability, and personal injuries. This diverse background provides her with a unique and unbiased insight into each party’s position during mediation. Tanya’s experience, patience, and ability to quickly identify contested issues contribute to the successful resolution of the vast majority of her cases. In addition to her mediation skills, Tanya is a skilled arbitrator, drawing on her trial experience, extensive knowledge of employment law and commercial disputes, attention to detail, and a commitment to reaching well-reasoned decisions.
