ATLANTA, GA, April 18, 2024 – Miles Mediation & Arbitration, the fastest-growing alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider in the Southeast, is pleased to announce that it has signed the RCI™ Pledge for ADR Providers.
The pledge is part of the Ray Corollary Initiative™ (RCI™), a detailed plan for action to increase the number of diverse persons selected as arbitrators and mediators. The initiative is named after Charlotte E. Ray, who graduated from Howard University School of Law in 1872. She was the first Black woman to be admitted to a bar in the U.S.
“While the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) industry as a whole has made strides in terms of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), there is still much more we can do,” says Parag Shah, CEO of Miles Mediation & Arbitration. “In my role, I can make institutional and systemic changes, and I take that responsibility very seriously.
“Signing the RCI™ Pledge for ADR Providers reflects our ongoing commitment to having a diverse panel of mediators and arbitrators,” says Shah. “I’m proud of the fact that we have a diverse panel — and a diverse staff — in terms of gender, race, and age, but there is always room for improvement. By taking this pledge, we agree to maintain a panel that includes at least 30% diverse neutrals in terms of race, gender, age, LGBTQ+, and disability. This pledge will help us focus our efforts and continue to build a panel and business that reflects the clients we serve — and society at large.”
