Miles Neutrals Share Insights on ADR Around the Community

In the past month, several neutrals at Miles Mediation & Arbitration have shared their expertise at educational events throughout Georgia and beyond.
On January 13-17, Parag Shah and his wife, attorney Elizabeth George, taught a week-long course on client interactions and negotiations at Ohio Northern University Law School in Ada, Ohio. In this course, they taught students practical skills and techniques useful in dealings with clients and negotiations with the other side. To read more about Parag’s course, click here.
On January 15, mediator Nigel Wright conducted a CLE at Taylor English Duma LLP. Nigel shared best practices in navigating complex commercial mediation. Over the next couple of months, he will present his CLE at Balch Bingham, Kilpatrick Townsend, and Dentons.
Nigel offers extensive commercial litigation experience having served as a senior partner at two AM Law 100 firms and in senior management at an International Specialty Insurance and Reinsurance Company.
On January 16, mediator Shuli Green served as the keynote speaker at the DeKalb Bar Association January Luncheon. During her presentation, she shared with participants, “Mediation gives them their day in court without the risk, especially since jurors don’t always see the case from the same perspective.”
Shuli mediates complex personal injury and commercial disputes, including employment, product liability, premises liability, construction, bad faith, and contract disputes.
On January 28, senior neutral Danny Cohen presented at the Savannah Trial Lawyers, where he shared mediation strategies developed over his 15+ years as a full-time mediator.
FUTURE SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS FROM OUR NEUTRALS
Sally Akins will be speaking at the General Practice and Trial Institute on March 12-14, 2020, at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort. She will be speaking on Friday the 13th at 11 am on “Tips for Mediation: What Really Makes a Difference!”
David Nutter will be sharing a podium with Kevin O’Sullivan as a presenter on mediation on February 7th at the Estate Planning Institute in Athens, GA. The topic is, “When Disappointment is a Good Thing: a non-litigators guide to mediation.” David will be cohosting while also extending his insights from the mediator’s perspective.
Greg Parent will be presenting at the Clayton County CLE on February 7th, sponsored by Judge Atha Pryor. In his CLE, he will outline what he believes to be the most important factors to look out for when choosing a mediator, preparing for a mediation, and how to begin mediating successfully.
