Sally Akins Elevated to Senior Neutral

ATLANTA & SAVANNAH, GA, August 6, 2020— Miles Mediation & Arbitration is proud to announce it has promoted mediator and arbitrator Sarah “Sally” Akins to Senior Neutral, the highest rank at the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) firm. Akins is based in Miles Mediation & Arbitration’s Savannah office.

‘’I’m so pleased that Sally has become a senior neutral.” said John Miles, Jr., CEO of Miles Mediation & Arbitration.

“It’s really no surprise as she succeeds at everything she puts her mind to. The rapid growth of Sally’s ADR practice is one of the main reasons we were able to expand and upgrade our Savannah office space. Well done Sally!”

Akins manages disputes involving premises liability, professional negligence (medical, legal and pharmaceutical), automobile, and truck accidents, litigation involving counties and municipalities including civil rights cases and zoning cases, insurance coverage litigation, and products liability. In addition to her ADR practice, Akins is also a partner at Ellis, Painter, Ratterree & Adams in Savannah.

In 2019, Akins received Daily Report’s “Distinguished Leader” Award, and in 2018, the General Practice & Trial Section presented her with its “Tradition of Excellence” Award for the defense, the section’s highest accolade bestowed upon a litigator. She has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America (2012-2019) and Georgia Super Lawyers (2010-2019).

In addition to her successful, full-time mediation and arbitration career, Sally provides extensive service to professional organizations, including the State Bar of Georgia, where she currently serves as Secretary. She is also a member of the executive committee for the State Bar of Georgia. Akins was appointed by the chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia to its Local Rules Committee, and in 2017 the chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit appointed her to the court’s Advisory Committee, where she continues to serve.

Akins has previously served as president of the American Board of Trial Advocates (2017), the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association (2017-2018), Georgia Association for Women Lawyers (Savannah Chapter, 2013-2015). In 2019, she served as Vice President of the Federal Bar Association, Southern District of Georgia.
