Key work trait: A Positive Attitude — Every Day
Katie Faulk, client success supervisor, brings extensive experience as an office manager to her work at Miles.
It’s not surprising that she ended up in the legal field — Katie comes from a family of lawyers, and her sister works for a divorce law firm.
There’s no such thing as a “typical” day at Miles. Katie’s on the move from the moment she arrives at the office. “I check my email, and make sure that our clients have what they need and that the neutrals have what they need,” she says. That includes making sure the office is ready; doing court reports; maintaining the inventory of the tasty snacks and drinks Miles always has on hand; confirming that the IT room is stocked with phone chargers, computers, and computer equipment; and emailing clients for upcoming mediations. Katie, along with A.J. and Sapphire, greets attorneys and clients as they arrive and gets them settled in the appropriate conference rooms. “I also make sure that the office always looks pretty,” Katie says with a laugh.
Katie says she’s found a home at Miles. “What I absolutely love is how nice and helpful everyone is,” she says. “It’s been nothing but a positive experience and everyone is incredibly helpful. I love the community of it — we’re coworkers but we’re also friends. I’ve been here four months and there hasn’t been one day when I didn’t want to go to work.”
Away from the office, Katie and her boyfriend, Greg enjoy reading and trying new restaurants. “We live in Decatur, right outside Atlanta, and we love to go into Midtown and try all the restaurants there, or we go to the zoo and the aquarium.” They also travel to the mountains of North Carolina on long weekends to visit her family and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
It’s not only her expertise, but her attitude that is key to her success. “I think it’s really important to maintain a positive environment at work,” she says. “When I walk through the threshold at Miles, I want everyone to know that they can come to me with anything and that it will be taken care of. I am always as positive as I can be. It helps my own morale — and it helps with everyone’s morale as well.”
