Year In Review and Looking Ahead: Q&A with Parag Shah
Thu, Dec 5th, 2024 | by Miles Mediation and Arbitration | Thoughts from the Top | Social Share
In this month’s Thoughts from the Top, we speak with Parag Shah, our CEO, about the growth and milestones Miles has achieved over 2024, as well as what we can look forward to in the year ahead.
Q: Parag, 2024 has been a year of significant expansion for Miles, with new offices in Houston, Palm Beach, and a virtual (for now) office in Boston. How do these new locations fit into our broader strategy, and what opportunities do they create for our clients?
A: This year’s expansion reflects our commitment to making our brand of client-focused dispute resolution accessible nationwide. These new opportunities allow our neutrals to connect with a diverse array of clients, tackle a broader range of disputes, and build meaningful relationships in new legal communities. By broadening our footprint, we’re enhancing our ability to learn, evolve, and ultimately redefine the ADR experience for both our clients and neutrals.
Q: Bringing on 20 new mediators this year is a major jump for Miles. How will this expansion of our panel enhance the services we offer to clients, and how does it strengthen our position in the legal industry?
A: The expansion of our team reflects the growing needs of our clients. Each mediator brings unique expertise and perspectives, enabling us to handle a broader range of disputes and offer solutions tailored to specific industries and cases. This growth also demonstrates that Miles is more than just a panel — it’s a place where neutrals come to collaborate and contribute to improving the client experience. By investing in this shared vision, we continue to strengthen our ability to lead, innovate, and deliver exceptional results for our clients.
Q: Miles also acquired a court reporting company, D’Amico & Associates, this year. What connections do you see between this new acquisition and our existing mediation and arbitration services, and how will it improve our overall offering to clients?
A: Discovery, information sharing, and maintaining a reliable record are often bottlenecks in litigation, creating roadblocks to resolution. By integrating court reporting into our offerings, we can help clients manage their cases more efficiently, particularly during the arbitration process. Breaking down these barriers paves the way for better outcomes and reduces avoidable delays.
Q: Looking ahead to 2025, what are some of the key goals and initiatives Miles will focus on to continue our momentum?
A: As we look ahead to 2025, our focus will remain on innovation, accessibility, and strengthening our connections with both clients and neutrals. Key initiatives include expanding our geographic reach, continuing to invest in technology, and enhancing training and business development opportunities for our neutrals. We’ll also prioritize deeper engagement with our clients, ensuring that we are continuing to listen to their evolving needs. By building on the momentum of 2024, we will continue to change the ADR landscape by offering clients a better resolution experience.
Q: As we prepare for the year ahead, is there any message you would like to share with our clients?
A: As we prepare for 2025, I want to express my gratitude to our clients and neutrals for trusting Miles as your partner in dispute resolution. Your feedback, challenges, and successes inspire us to continuously improve and innovate. In the year ahead, we remain committed to delivering the exceptional service you’ve come to expect while finding new ways to make the resolution process even more efficient and effective. Together, we’re not just resolving disputes — we’re shaping how they are resolved.
