Miles’ Marketing Initiatives: Q&A with Kimber Bond

In this month’s Thoughts From the Top, we talk with Kimber Bond, Miles’ director of marketing, about some of the latest marketing initiatives Miles is launching.

Q: Miles has switched from a monthly newsletter to a quarterly/seasonal one. What was the reasoning behind the change?

A: As Miles continues to grow, we want to better serve our clients by providing them with more specialized content. Instead of sending one company newsletter to our clients every month, we’ll focus on providing clients with curated thought leadership in different practice areas, local news and events, and updates on our divisions and services that may interest them. The idea is to provide a newsletter that is more customized to our clients’ individual needs.

Q: What upcoming events are planning?

A: After the success of our arbitration institute in June, we are excited to be planning our first in-person mediation training program at our Atlanta office in December. This General Civil Mediation Training program has been approved by the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution, and was created by Joe Murphey, one of our senior neutrals. Joe is a popular presenter who has also mediated more than 3,000 cases, with an 80 percent success rate.

This in-person training will include lunch with John Miles, the chairman of Miles; a cocktail party with our neutrals at Miles; and a two-day civil mediation practicum that will allow participants to practice their skills, and meet with leaders of our Business Development, Marketing, Finance, and Operations Divisions.

Q: What else is the Marketing Division working on?

A: In addition to our ongoing marketing work, we’ve recently had five neutrals in Houston, TX, and two neutrals in Nashville, TN join Miles, so we will be busy with their onboarding and marketing initiatives. We’ve also acquired a court-reporting company, D’Amico & Associates, so we’re in the process of integrating the company into Miles.

Our content manager, Kelly K. James, has been working with external publications to publish our neutrals’ thought leadership articles in the locations that we serve. We now have a biweekly column in the Daily Report in Atlanta, and our neutrals have also published articles in North Carolina Lawyers Weekly, South Carolina Lawyers Weekly, Missouri Lawyers Weekly, Missouri In-House Counsel, and Law360, a national publication.

Q: Anything else you think clients should be aware of when it comes to Miles, and how you market Miles’ neutrals, and the Miles brand?

A: Yes! Miles is turning 25 in the year 2025. I’m excited about our 25th anniversary and we will be planning some fun marketing around our anniversary — and some significant events to celebrate this major milestone. Stay tuned for more on that soon!
